How-to Guides Chennai Kitchen

Modular kitchen installation timeline

A modular kitchen is mostly built where you cannot see it. Knowing the real sequence stops both panic and false promises.

The honest four-week sequence

  • Week 1: measure and freeze. Laser measurement after dado and counter decisions, final drawings signed. Every change after this costs time.
  • Weeks 2 to 3: factory production. Panels cut, edge-banded and drilled by machine. Site work meanwhile: dado tiling, plumbing and electrical points, chimney core cut.
  • Week 4, days 1 to 4: installation. Carcasses, then counters (templated earlier), then shutters and hardware alignment.
  • Week 4, days 5 to 6: commissioning. Sink, hob and chimney connected, soft-close tuned, snag list closed.

Where kitchen timelines actually slip

Three places: design changes after production starts (a re-cut panel costs a week), counters templated late (stone fabrication takes 5 to 7 days), and site not ready: dado, plumbing and electrical must finish before install day, which is why they run parallel to production.

A firm quoting under three weeks total is either holding inventory or planning to build on site with a saw in your kitchen: ask which. For the whole-home version, see the week-by-week project timeline.

quick answers

Frequently asked

How long does a modular kitchen take?
About four weeks: one week to measure and freeze the design, two weeks of factory production in parallel with site prep, then 4 to 6 days of installation and commissioning.
Can I use the kitchen during installation?
The install week, no. Site-prep weeks leave the old kitchen mostly usable; plan takeout only for the final week.
