For peripheral designs, count only the border: a 12 x 15 ft living room with a 2 ft border carries roughly 100 sq ft of ceiling work, not 180. At ₹120 per sq ft that is ₹12,000 of ceiling plus lighting, not the ₹22,000 a full-area assumption suggests.

Gypsum for speed, straight lines and consistency; POP where you want curves or are matching old POP work. Quality installed, both last. In humid coastal flats, insist on moisture-resistant board in bathrooms and near openable kitchen windows.
