How the per sq ft rate actually works
Kitchens are measured by cabinet face area: width times height of base, wall and tall units. A typical 8 x 10 ft L-shape carries 85 to 110 sq ft of face. Multiply by the finish rate and you have the cabinet number before appliances and counter.

Where to spend and where to save
Spend on the carcass grade, the hinges and channels, and the shutters at eye level. Save on loft shutters, internal finishes and exotic accessories you will use twice a year. A corner carousel is worth it; a motorised pull-down shelf usually is not.
